Report on the Oxford Mail cross country at Swindon
                                                    OXON XC LEAGUE AT SWINDON
The younger members of Banbury Harriers kept themselves on course for honours on a weather sodden course at Swindon on Sunday in the fourth fixture of The Oxford Mail XC league. There were also some good performances from several of the Hook Norton Harriers club.
Tia Williams and Emily Thompson tackling hard conditions for the second consecutive week again came up with goods. The two talented under thirteen girls battled away over tough hills and deep mudded flat areas to finish 3rd and 5th in their race. This will give both an excellent chance of honours in the final fixture next month. Zoe Pollock also in this age group ran well to finish 12th of the 35starters.
In the earlier under eleven boys race both Skip Snelson in 5th place and Owen Knox 6th kept hope for honours alive, also Angus Pollock like his sister finished 12th of the 59starters.
The senior man race over three tough laps produced a win for Oxford Cities Dave Bruce. In eighth place came Banbury Harrier Tim Wright which helps him to a medal chance next month. The Hook Norton duo of Tom Bradford and Dave Tame finished 16th and 20th respectively. Also in the top 100 were Simon Pritchard of Banbury Harriers 40th and Alistair Wilson of Hook Norton 77th.
The senior ladies gave Ros Kelling of Banbury Harriers a great chance of taking top honours in the veteran age group when finishing in 11th place. Hook Norton’s Donna Allen ran her best ever race to finish in 34th place, team mate Sam Rees finished 41st and Harrier Rebecca Biegel 48th. The leading Cherwell runner was Dawn Williams in 55th place.
The pick of the under thirteen boy’s was Blaine Carpenter in 13th place and under fifteen Greg Kelling in 14th place both from Banbury Harriers.
