News fron the club Secretary.
All
Please read on for the latest update from Banbury Harriers, this edition contains news of important information for all athletes, coaches, visitors and spectators.
New Members / Induction
Due to increased numbers of athletes and limited coaching capacity we recently had to introduce a waiting list. However, as some athletes haven't renewed their membership, I've now invited everyone on the list to an Induction Meeting on 2/7/13 and therefore they will begin training on 9/7.

Would everyone please note that if you receive any enquiry from someone wishing to join the club (or visit) please do not invite them try a  training as everyone is required to complete an Induction. These take place on the first Tuesday of each month, and with ref to juniors it is compulsory that a parent/carer also attends. All enquiries should be directed to BanburyHarriers@hotmail.co.uk and an invitation will be issued to the next available induction.

Existing members, please note that the club has now paid the 2013/14 fees to England Athletics as the deadline is this month-end. Therefore those athletes who still intend to renew their membership must act quickly as England Athletics will alter your status and competition results / PB's etc may not be registered. An 'Outstanding' list will be reissued to coaches in case you have missed all of the reminders.

Signing-In
A reminder that everyone (members & visitors) wanting to take part in a training session should visit the Clubhouse, sign-in and pay their training-fee before entering the track. There should be no exceptions as we need to know who is out there.

Competitions
The remaining Summer fixtures are shown here http://www.banburyharriers.org/Uploads/File/Fixture%20List%20Summer%202013a.pdf, please remember that all members are required to compete for the club, so please make the Team Managers role a little easier by being aware of the fixtures and volunteering to compete (or at least advise of the meetings where you are unavailable). Ann & Mike have to dedicate a lot of their spare time to chasing people for availability and it would be so much easier for them if the entire membership gave them some support. Our boys in particular need to participate more, you wouldn't join a football or rugby club without being expected to play matches and this club should be no different.

Results for last weekend's YDL meeting aren't available at the time of writing, so keep checking http://www.thepowerof10.info/results/resultslookup.aspx for updates. For those that aren't aware 'The Power of 10' website is a great tool for athletes if registered as it shows all of your results, PB's and Rankings in one place. It's free to use, so take a look.

Juniors
The younger juniors have started to receive their member packs from England Athletics, as this includes a water bottle I would suggest writing your name on the bottom as it won't be long before they all get mixed up during Tuesday training. There are some great exercises and other useful information shown in the Athletics 365 Book, so please remember you can train at home as well. Unfortunately we're unable to offer the badges at the moment, but we'll review this at a later date and may be able to participate when there are more coaches.

Spectators
Spectators are encouraged, but it's important that everyone remains behind the barriers that surround the track. You may walk around the track perimeter (school end) to reach the field behind the back straight, but please be aware that there may be athletes running from either direction. The inner field and water jump are not spectator areas and must be considered out of bounds. Please do not walk around other parts of the track or across the infield.

Finally
The club has almost 200 members from U11's to the very experienced veterans, we compete in numerous events and will always try and allow everyone the opportunity to try new, or their preferred events. However, there is a limited number of coaches and we require more volunteers willing to become 'Athletics Leaders' (the basic level of coaching which involves a 1 day course with no assessment). The club will fund the cost of the training and we hope to be able to offer a course either at home or at one of the Oxfordshire venues soon. If you are interested please let me know via BanburyHarriers@hotmail.co.uk

The club remains very busy and we are producing some great results thanks to everyone that gets involved. We want everyone to enjoy themselves, but this can be a dangerous environment so please respect the few rules we have in place as it will make everyone's time at the club a little easier and more productive.

Regards
