Report on the Midland League from Worcester
                                                    WORCESTER MIDLAND LEAGUE
The unwanted scenario which has continued with Banbury Harriers in all track and field leagues this summer again arose at Worcester on Sunday in the Midland Senior Athletic League. High quality performances in many events will not compensate for not having athletes in others, which as in Sunday’s fixture may have cost the club with relegation with one more fixture left next month.
On the positive side Kyle Ennis demonstrated why he is so high in the UK rankings when winning both the 100 and 200metres and breaking the club record in the former with a time of 10.6s.
Still on the positive side there were also some good performances from the younger members of the team. Samantha Phillips cleared 1m 50cm in the high jump for the first time to finish second and Shannon Parker won the “B” string. She then along with her sister Shana matched the best in both the long and triple jump events. Tory Mobley finished second in the 1500metres but in both the female and male races from 800metres upwards the club had no starters.
Megan Davies gained excellent points in throws and an unfortunate fall from Hannah Cousins in 100metre hurdles after the last hurdle which cost her victory. The ladies finished on a high when winning the 4x100m relay.
The younger male members also had good performances with Jack Gill gaining good points in both the high and long jump .He then topped that with an excellent series in the triple jump to finish third with a best of 11metres 70centre metres plus.
Alex Brown also was in good form winning the javelin and just failing to leap six metres in the long jump for the first time. He had the consolation of a personal best and second place.
Other strong performances came from Tom Wain and Alfie and Bert Rowett, the latter in a competitive 800metres with five almost crossing the line together.
