Report on the event at Kidlington

BANBURY HARRIERS RECORD BREAKING DAY AT SPORTSHALL

Banbury Harriers young athletes produced four league records at the second fixture in the sports hall county league at Kidlington on Sunday. The four records following the one by Evie Hawkins in the standing triple jump at the first fixture.

Emily Thompson in the under fifteen girls can lay claim two of them. The first was in a determined gritty run in the four lap race, when she battled hard to beat the strong older Witney athlete. Her second record came in the parlauf relay running with Abby Anson. This was obtained with excellent speed on change overs and reversing board turns.

The under fifteen’s girls team consisted of six members and the other four created another record in the 4x2lap relay. The four girls were Naomi Anderson, Paige Cooper, Helen Dubber and Rebecca Scott. All six girls gained victories in other events to win their age group easily on the day.

The fourth league record went to under thirteen Victoria Harte in the speed bounce, managing an incredible 91bounces over the wedge in thirty seconds. She also won the shot putt with a personal best.

In the under eleven girls Matilda Donaghy was outstanding in standing long jump and soft javelin throw. Also in this age group Lizzie Anderson and Maia Cook stood out in their events.

In the boy’s under eleven’s Ollie Clamp was easily the quickest over the one lap race. The combination of Charlie and Jake Maundsley dominated the speed bounce.

In the under thirteen boy’s Felix Noble and Charlie Yates gained maximum points in both the two lap races and standing long jump.

In the under fifteen’s age group Michael Dawes and Bailey Moulton gained excellent points in all their events.
