YDL meeting at Cwybran

                                                               YDL ATHLETICS LEAGUE

The throwing of both Tomasz Napiorkowski  and Alex Brown, plus Alfie Rowett in the sprints alongside a solid team performance on Sunday in the YDL Athletics League. More than justified the joint Banbury /Bicester Under 20squad making 250mile round trip journey to Cwybran when finishing second behind a strong Newport team.

Napiorkowski started the meeting out throwing his rivals in the hammer with a best throw of almost 44metres. He then followed winning the shot putt humping the 6kg ball out just short of 14metres. His favoured event the discus closed the meeting and produced another win with centre metres short of his 5th UK ranked best of this season.

Brown put together arguably his best ever series winning the javelin increasing his personal best on four of the six throws. He finished launching 800g spear out to 6cm short of 50metres. He also gained valuable points finishing third in the long and high jump events.

The duo received good support from Nathan Grieveson in the under seventeen’s age group when he won both the javelin and discus.

Alfie Rowett in this age group was outstanding winning both the 100 and 200metres. He lowered his best in the longer event to 22.7seconds. The club also captured the “B” string races with first year under 17 Michael Quinn powering home.

The girls played their part in the older age group Hannah Cousins won the 100mhurdles, shot and came second in 100 and 200metres. Shannon Parker collected four second places in the 100 metres, long and triple jump and discus.

The younger age produced two good third places for Naomi Anderson in both sprints. Chloe Keen won the 300metres with a determined finish and Jess Lay picked excellent points in all of her events.
