The under 13/15 age group of Banbury Harriers captured gold and silver medals at the Oxfordshire road relay Championships held at Abingdon on Sunday.

The gold came in the girl’s race when the threesome of Rose Lord, Tia Williams and Emily Thompson easily beat the other eight teams. The girls also claimed three of the best five best individual times of the day, with Thompson producing the best of all the runners.

The boys finished second of the six teams to a strong team from Abingdon. With strong runs in all three legs from Owen Knox, Jake Stickley and Gregor Kelling.

In the senior races the ladies saw Banbury Harriers finish in 10th place and Hook Norton Harriers 14th of the 24th teams. The highlight being a strong run from Ros Kelling enabling Banbury Harriers to hold second place after the first leg,

In the senior man’s race Banbury Harriers claimed 6th place of the 22teams. The best leg for the club this came on the second from Tom Offord that put the club in third place at the change.

Some great results at road relays at Abingdon today.

U15 Girls – Rose Lord led off on first leg, coming home in second place closely followed by Zoe Pollock on first leg of the B team.  Tia Williams took over, had a storming run coming back in first place to hand over to Emily Thompson, who is never going to relinquish a lead and finished in first place by a big margin and was also rewarded with quickest girls leg of the day.  The B team were brought home by Lizzie Westley and Grace King.

U15 Boys – Owen Knox led off and came back in a very creditable second place despite being the youngest member of the team.  Jake Stickley had a good second leg, keeping Abingdon within his sight before handing over to Gregor Kelling on the last leg who couldn’t make anything on the Abingdon runner who had the quickest boys leg of the day.  A very good second place.  Our B team of Oskar Moyaert, Angus Pollock and Stan Bull had a hard task performing against boys up to 3 years their senior, but all performed well and ones to watch for future teams.

We also had a senior ladies, senior mens and vet mens team in – will let you know the results once in.  Hard to sort as all running together!
