MIDLANDS ROAD RELAYS AT SUTTON PARK NEAR BIRMINGHAM SATURDAY 20TH SEPTEMBER

Banbury Harriers took 3 teams to Midlands Road Relays held at Sutton Park on an undulating 3.8km course.  Our Under 13 boys had the highest placing of the day in a very creditable 7th place.  They were led off by Owen Knox who came back in 8th place with his quickest time to date of 14min 34seconds.   Stan Bull took over on second leg and ran a storming 15.20 bringing us up two places to 6th and Angus Pollock brought us home in 7th overall out of 23 teams in 16.05.  With two bottom year boys in the team it bodes well for future years in the event.

The Under 15 girls only had 2 runners and so could not make up a team, but Emily Thompson was very pleased with her first leg run of 14.50 which brought her back in 5th place to hand over to Tia Williams who ran a very strong 16.11 to finish in 7th place.

The U17 men were in a very strong category of 29 starting teams and finished in 17th place.  Luke Sherlock led them off in 13.33 to come in 16th, Gregor Kelling ran13.46, his quickest time to date, to bring the team up to 11th place and Oscar Gudge brought the team home in 14.34.  Again with two bottom year boys there is more to come.

The quickest time of the day was Sam Stevens (U17men) of Leicester Coritanians in 11.36 so a bit more work to do in training!

Witney 10

Simon Pritchard and Phil Coy braved the hills in the very tough Cotswold Classic Witney 10 mile road race on Sunday. Simon finished 22nd in a time of 1.04 27 gaining him a V40 county bronze. Phil was 71st and 10th V50 in a time of 1.13,54.
