First cross country report from Watford

Report on Chiltern League – Watford 11/10/2014

Banbury Harriers were well represented on Saturday, for the opening cross-country of the season, as they participated in the Chiltern League division two fixture at Watford.

In the senior race Tim Wright produced an excellent run, finishing 3rd in a time of 34:15. He was supported by Simon Pritchard in 9th, Bruce Hendrie in 62nd, Phil Coy in 70th, Geoff Smith 102nd, Neil Frape in 115th and Andy Bartlett in 142nd. Overall the team finished in 9th position within the senior race but when ranked within the veteran category that position improved to 7thBruce Hendrie also claimed an excellent 1st place within the M60 category. 

In the under 17 men’s race Luke Sherlock ran well coming home in 5th and in the under 13’s Skip Snelson made a strong start to his season coming home in 3rd despite still being in the lower year of the age category.

In the ladies race Banbury fielded three runners with Michelle Bartlett the pick finishing 6th in the divisional race and an impressive 1st in the F45 category. She was supported in the team event by good runs from Rebecca Biegel in 34th and Lisa Ansell, who it was great to see returning to action for the club, in 65th. The ladies finished 11th overall and 9th within the veteran category.

In the under 15’s Emily Thompson produced Harrier’s run of the day finishing 2nd in the division two race, and an excellent 8th overall across both one and two divisional races, in a time of 13:14.
