THE HOOK NORTON CHRISTMAS CANTER
It was decided to go back to the roots for this years canter and
use the nativity as a theme. And it came to pass that we got into the theme with Joseph, Mary, Jesus, 3 wise Neils, sheep, a shepherdess, cows, a donkey, angels and even the star. The stars of our show were once again Simon Pritchard & Michelle Bartlett. 2nd M40 and first W45 respectively. Also the team, who won best fancy dress.
The positions and times were Simon Pritchard 5th overall 45.38: Michelle Bartlett 32nd 52.41; Peter Grieveson 72nd in 58.39 and youngest competitor ha ha; Leanne Buehling 75th in 1.00.06; Pete Newell 76th in 1.00.08; Bruce Hendrie 81st in 1.00.52; Phil
Coy 93rd in 1.02.26; Doug Scott 111th in 1.04.33; Rebecca Biegel 127th in 1.08.05; We then had a blanket finish of wise men with Neil Wallis, Neil Forbs, Andy Bartlett, Claire Gleeve and Neil Frape all recording 1.18. 24 and positions from 158 to 162. Last but not least were Emma Ball & Wayne Nota in 1.37.24.
It is great to see such great sports, turning up and managing to run in some brilliant outfits.
I would like to thank our supporters including Bruce’s family, Kerry, Ken and Lisa. Also Hook Norton Harriers for putting on such a fun event. As you may know I ran as a Donkey and got called Eeyore a few times so afterwards I looked him up on Wikipedia “a pessimistic, gloomy, depressed, anhedonic old grey stuffed donkey” - About right then.
On behalf of Banbury Harriers I would like to wish you all a great Christmas and New Year. Don’t forget the cross country on the 4th of January. Then we are back at the club on Tuesday 6thJan.
