Event 4 at Witney on 8th Feb

Harriers Under-15 girls won again in the 4th Sports Hall event at Windrush Leisure Centre in Witney with Abbey Anson breaking the vertical jump record at under-15 girls. This was a better all-round performance by the club as the under-11’s and under-13 girls and boys produced solid 3rd place finishes.

Oliver Clamp and Christopher Charles again stood out in the under-11 boys winning the standing long jump team event. Charles was joint first in the 3-lap while Clamp took victory in the speed bounce. Elsewhere Charlie Evans produced an excellent soft Javelin to finish 3rd overall. There were solid performances throughout the under-11’s girls who finished 4th overall in every event except the 4x1-lap relay where they ran really well to come home in second place.

In the under-13 victory was secured in the 8-lap Paarlauf and Billy Mellor-Brooke ran a terrific race to finish second overall in the 4-lap. In the girl’s events Emelina Darvill and Matilda Donaghy combined well to finish second in the Shot while Donaght and Holly Dowden finished 3rd in the Speed bounce and Darvill and Maddi Cooper 3rd in the 2-lap. Elsewhere Cooper and Maia Cook also finished 3rd in the standing long jump.

In the under-15 girls Abbey Anson claimed what is fast becoming a guaranteed 60 point haul which included the record breaking vertical jump and first places in the 2-lap and shot, although it should be noted that she was pushed all the way in the shot by the impressive Paige Cooper who just finished second. Emily Thompson, fresh from a 3rd place finish in the British Athletics Cross Country Challenge the previous day claimed first in the 4-lap and second in both the long jump and speed bounce. Helen Dubber comfortably won the speed bounce for the second event running and Evie Hawkins the long jump.
