On Saturday 7th June a strong Banbury Harriers team travelled to Coventry for the Heart of England Athletics league match number two.

In hot conditions some excellent performances ensued. 

In the under-11 boys there was a stand-out performance from Ethan Aldous who ran the 600m to finish 4th but recorded a phenomenal time of 1 minute 52 seconds, despite being in the lower year. In the howler Max Lloyd-Thomas threw 36.23m for second place in the A-string and Ben Knox 24.9m for first B-string. Lloyd-Thomas was 3rd in the long jump with a strong leap of 3.60m. In the under-11 girls Reagan Sellers jumped to 3rd place in the A-string with a very good 3.46m and Inka Moyaert also took 3rd in the B-string with 2.95m. The boys and girls combined for the 4x100 relay with Sellers, Aldous, Lloyd-Thomas and Moyaert taking 3rd place. 

In the under-13’s 75m hurdles Giano Winkler ran strongly for 3rd place in the A-string posting 15.6 seconds. He then won the javelin B-string with a throw of 23.53m to support Christopher Charles who took 3rd place in the A-string with 26.98m. Both boys also finished 3rd in the shot with Charles putting 7.14m in the A-string and Winkler 5.47m in the B-string. Callum Davies took a strong 3rd place in the 100m B-string in 14.2 seconds. Skip Snelson then won the 1500m in a really terrific time of 4 minutes 52.2 seconds. A team of Davies, Winkler, Charles and Oliver Clamp finished 3rd in the relay.

In the girls under-13 Matilda Donaghy finished 2nd in the B-string 800m with a time of 2.43.8 and Tegan Armstrong was just pushed down into 4th in the High-jump finishing with 1.30m. Emelina Darvell leapt 3.74m for 3rd in the B-string long jump and Elizabeth Eskender finished 3rd in the B-string shot with 5.72m. Donaghy then threw 13.34m in the Javelin for 2nd place B-string supporting Nikola Bishop who finished 4th A-string with a very strong throw of 16.37m. In an exciting race the girl’s relay team was pushed into 4th place by just one tenth of a second. 

The under-15 boy’s was a very strong field and Harriers competed well. Josh Walker finished 2nd in the B-string 100m in 13.0 seconds and Felix Noble was 4th in the A-string 200m in 25.3 seconds. In the under-15 girls Tia Williams ran brilliantly to take second the A-string 1500m running 5 minutes 3.9 seconds. Shannon Dawes was also excellent in the javelin throwing 31.58m to win the A-string. 

In the under-17 boys Seb Hartwell almost flew round the 400m to finish 2nd A-string in an excellent time of  52.4 seconds and then jumped 1.70m to finish 3rd in the high jump. In what was an excellent competition on the day both Hartwell and Jake Stickley also cleared 5m in the long jump (5.61m and 5.06m respectively). In the girls events Rebecca Scott was the stand out Harrier finishing 3rd in the 300m in 43.3 seconds.
