Sports Hall report

Last event at Wheatley on 7th Feb

The weekend saw the fifth and final competition of the winter season league, culminating in some great races and outstanding performances for Banbury Harriers junior members, against teams from Abingdon, Bicester, Oxford, Radley, White Horse, and Witney. The U11 boys put on a good performance to finish 3rd, placing them 3rd overall, with U11 girls 4th, and 4th overall against a very strong Witney team. The U13 boys suffered with poor turnout, but still finished a credible 4th, 3rd overall, whilst the girls fought for a hotly contested win, finishing 3rd and 3rd overall. The U15 boys finished in 3rd place, and 3rd overall, with the girls pipping Bicester to 2nd place by one point, placing them 3rd overall.

As an overall competition, the consistency of the Banbury Harriers helped them to 2nd place on Sunday, finishing the season 3rd overall behind Witney and the ultimate winners of the 2015-16 winter season, Bicester.

Individual medal winners for Banbury were U11 Boys - Archie Jones (3rd), U13 Boys - Christopher Charles (=1st), and U15 Girls - Lillie Hamp (1st). Congraulations to you all.

Honorable mentions from Sunday would simply have to include Alice Colmer (U15), and the team of Christopher Charles with Ollie Clamp in the Paarlauf, who all forced the judges to consider their placements on the finish line! In the series - Eimear Moss (U11) and Emelina Darvell (U13) narrowly missing out on medal positions, and Oskar Moyaert was just pipped to podium in U15 Boys.

Several individuals have been selected from Banbury Harriers to represent Oxfordshire in the Inter-Counties Sportshall at Burgess Hill (U11) on 28th February on 06th March (U13 & U15) and we congratulate them all on such an achievement, wishing them the best in the competitions.

Hopeful and memorable performances which should set everyone in good stead for the forthcoming Summer Track & Field season, starting in April.
