Home match at Banbury

Sunday (10th July) saw Banbury Harriers compete in the third and final match of the Heart of England League Division 2.

They were on home ground on North Oxfordshire Academy’s track in Banbury. The event was hosted jointly with friendly rivals Bicester.

On the back of superb results from some Harriers athletes in English Schools on Friday and Saturday, the club performed brilliantly, claiming 4th position in the season after a slow start.

U11 boys lead the charge – Ethan Aldous won A-string 75m (11.1sec), 600m (PB-1:49.2mins), & Long Jump (PB-4.20m), ably supported by Archie Street taking 1st in Long Jump (B-string, 3.60m) and Leo Andersen 1st in 75m (B-string 11.2sec).
U11 girls managed to claim 4th in the match with Tilly Lainchbury finishing 2nd in both Howler (B-string 13.1m) and 600m (A-string 2.09.8mins).

U13 boys took 2nd in the 4x100m relay with 57.3secs – Christopher Charles, Jordan Broersma, Charlie Evans & Archie Jones. Charles and Evans (PB) took 1st in Javelin, A & B-string respectively, with Evans also claiming 1st in B-string in Shot (6.00m PB) and Charles 2nd in A-string (6.50m). Jones managed 3rd in 100m (13.7sec) and Broersma 3rd in Long Jump (3.60m)

U13 girls showed strength with Tegan Armstrong & Maddy Dowden taking 1st in 70m hurdles (A-string 12.1s & B-string 12.2s PB respectively) with second places for Sophie Howie (High Jump 1.30m PB) and Dowden (100m joint 1st 14.4s). Howie went on to set PB’s in both 100m & 200m. Lizzie Andersen pulled a 2nd place in Javelin B-string with 14.35m.
