Dudley YDL LAG Report by Anne-Marie
Saturday's final round of the Youth Development League for the lower age group at Dudley again saw great performances by Banbury Harriers athletes, despite a low turnout due to injuries & end of school year commitments.
U13 Charlie Evans continued his impressive throwing form by winning his first A-string Javelin event with a great throw of 25.80m, a new personal best, along with a fine PB of 6.50m in the Shot A-string giving him second place. He followed this up on track with a new PB in his 100m race.
Fellow U13 teammate Archie Jones was second in the 100m A-string with a new PB before earning another PB with a good jump of 4.01m placing him third in the Long Jump A-string. He finished his day with another PB in the 200m A-string. U13 Jordan Broersma achieved a PB in the Shot Put B-string taking second place followed by third place in the 100m B-string.
In the girls Under 13 category, Maddy Dowden took second place in the 70m hurdles A-string with a new PB & she also achieved a PB’s in both the Shot Put A-string with a throw of 6.78m & in her 75m A-string race.
Fellow U13 teammate Sophie Howie gained two new PB’s when she finished second in both the 70m hurdles B-string & 75m B-string. U13G Reagan Sellers took a strong third in the 150m A-string race.
There were also PB’s for U13G Shannon Gilkes in the Shot Put B-string, 800m B-string & in her 75m race, where she finished joint second. Rosie England also achieved a PB in her 75m race finishing third.
U15 Owen Knox returned from injury with a very impressive win in the 1500m A-string smashing his old PB. Fellow U15 teammate Oskar Moyaert took third in the Javelin A-string, whilst Alex England finished third in the Long Jump B-string & he also achieved a new PB in the 100m A-string.
U15 girls Sydney Sellers took second place in the 75m hurdles A-string with a fine PB & she also had a new PB in the Long Jump B-string. Emelina Darvell continued her strong throwing form with third place in both the Discus A-string & the Shot Put A-string, followed on track with a third place in the 100m B-string. Maddi Cooper took third place in the Long Jump B-string. Maia Cook achieved PB’s in both the 200m B-string & the 300m B-string races.
At the end of the day the U13 girls relay team of Raegan Sellers, Maddy Dowden, Inka Moyaert & Sophie Howie had an impressive win in the 4 x 100m relay.
In the U15 boys 4 x 300m relay Billy Mellor-Brook, Oskar Moyaert, Owen Knox & Alex England finished a very close second.
In the U15 girls 4 x 100m relay Maia Cook, Sydney Sellers, Emelina Darvell & Maddi Cooper finished a strong second.
