COMPETITION REPORT

The weekend saw the start of the competition season open with the first round of the Oxfordshire Junior League at Horspath on Sunday, under a perfect blue sky and a wonderfully warm day.

The U17 men set the standard for others to follow: 100m A-String 1st Felix Noble (12.0s), B-String 1st Charlie Yates (12.1s), who then repeated their respective wins in the 200m (24.3s & 24.9s). Yates then secured 1st position in Long Jump with an excellent PB of 6.25m.

U17 women showed promise for the season with Lily Hamp winning both A-String 300m (44.7s) and B-string 200m (28.8s), and a 3rd place in Shot (8.32m). Sydney Sellers clenched 2nd in 100m A-string (14.2s), with Evie Hawkins, returning from long term injury settling for 2nd in Long Jump A (4.50m) and a credible 3rd in High Jump (1.45m).

 

Christopher Charles, moving to U15 for the first time, showed good form, with 3 PBs, taking 3rd in 100m (13.1s), 1st in 80m Hurdles (13.5s), and 1st in Long Jump with 5.25m. Tegan Armstrong also new to the age group, placed 2nd in both 75m Hurdles (12.8s) and High Jump (1.35m), and 3rd in Long Jump (4.32m). Emelina Darvell took 2nd in both A-String Discus with 19.02m and Shot with 7.80m.

 

U13s were determined not to be left out of the accolades placing 1st in 200m (29.0s), 2nd in 100m with 13.6s and 3rd in Long Jump (4.04m) for Archie Jones. Archie Street took 1st in High Jump B with 1.40m. Charlie Evans 1st in Javelin with a throw of 33.23m.

Next competition is the first Youth Development League (Lower Age Group - U13 & U15) at home on Saturday 22nd April.
