First event at Oxford Horspath.

Chiltern League Cross Country

Banbury Harriers took 17 runners to the first cross country of the season ranging from U11’s to Vet70’s.  The course at Horspath, Oxford was very dry, and the weather unseasonably hot – not typical  cross country.

The U11 Girls race started the day, and in a field of 76 runners Isla McGowan ran a very well paced race to come home 3rd, and Charlotte Hall in her first race for Harriers was a creditable 14th

Richie Mack was our only runner in the U11 Boys, but of the 88 runners came home an impressive 6th position.

Despite racing the day before in schools cross country, Tilly Lainchbury showed her fitness to come a well deserved 10th place, just being pipped in a sprint finish.

In the U13 Boys, stepping up a distance Sam Davis was 41st and Archie Street 44th

Tia Williams running in the combined U17/U20 race was 31st, and in the Senior Ladies Michelle Bartlett and Ros Kelling made up the masters ladies team in 32nd (3rd F45) and 52nd  (2nd F55) respectively in a good field of 218 runners.

As always the senior mens race had the largest field of 363 runners, and had the steep ascent of Shotover Hill twice to endure.   Tim Wright started his season well with a strong 27th place and was followed home by Simon Pritchard in 227th, Logan Kelling in 263, Mark Scrivener 264, Phil Coy 303, Glyn Pritchard 333 (2nd M70), Neil Frape 334 and Andy Bartlett 345.

I must say we had some great team results.

U13 girls 5th. U20 women 6th, Vet women 9th (with only 2 athletes) U13B 7th U17men 10th SM 11th vet men 8th.  If we can keep the attendance up we can get some podium places.
