Results from the meeting at Banbury on 16-05-15
Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to say a big thank you to you all for all your support and help yesterday, without which it would have not been possible to host a home meeting. To Doug, Andy, Ann, James, Phil and Shannon for helping officiate for the day, Steve and Anna for spending all day scoring, our runner for the day Maddie, James for getting the hammers in competition shape on Friday, all the athletes for taking time out from revision to compete and not forgetting Ann who had the unenviable task of helping to guide me through being Team Manager for my first home meeting.
We had 21 athletes for the day and there were some excellent performances. It was particularly pleasing to see some new athletes making promising debuts and others trying new events, I am looking forward to seeing how that all develops over the season. We finished second behind Tamworth, who fielded a much larger team on the day. A result which ensures Tamworth remain in first place in the league with us in joint second with Royal Sutton Coldfield. I have attached a copy of the results for the day, but they were also uploaded to the Power of 10 this afternoon so you can also see them there.
I would like to congratulate Emma Thompson and Michael Dawes for the two performances which stood out to me on the day. Emma attached ESAA entry standard when winning the 300m in 41s, the third event she has achieved this in this season (having already gained it in the 800m and 1500m) and Michael who improved the recent ESAA standard he obtained a few weeks ago by 2 metres when winning the Hammer with 54.46m.
The next YDL takes place at Sutton Coldfield on Sunday 28th June and I hope that you will all be able to take part again.
It is the County Championships next weekend and I hope everything goes well for those of you who are competing there.
