                                                     MIDLAND ATHLETIC CHAMPIONSHIPS

Kyle Ennis Banbury Harriers superb sprinter achieved an excellent silver medal winning double at the Alexander Stadium, Birmingham in the Midland Athletic Championships at the weekend.

The championships over two days produce the first of his medals in the 100metres.  In the earlier heats he gained his place in the final by winning heat three in a time close to a personal best with 10.65seconds.

The final now left him alongside Glasgow bound and former UK No1 Mark Lewis-Francis. Ennis responded well to the challenge and despite losing touch with Birchfield Bullet he claimed second place in a time slightly slower than his heat.

The following day produced another excellent winning run by Ennis in his heat of the 200metres with a time of 21.55seconds

In the final later he faced the Portuguese born David Lima and the two battled for gold. Off the bend Lima had the edge which he kept to the line. Ennis with determination pulled away from the rest to collect his second silver medal and a new club record of 21.17seconds.

Perriss Wilkins successfully claimed the veteran 45 title in the discus at the recent Midland Master Championships. His best throw of 45m 90cm moved him to second in this age group in the United Kingdom.
