Report on National Road Relays at Sutton Park 5th October

Banbury Harriers sent 2 strong teams to the national road relay championships at Sutton Park last weekend.

Despite coming up against strong competition the under 15 girls performed very well. They were led off on the first leg by Emily Thompson, who knocked 4 seconds off the time she recorded on the same course during the Midland championships in September, coming home in 14.46. Tia Williams ran a great second leg in 15.56, knocking 15 seconds of her Midlands time and Zoe Pollock ran the third leg in a very respectable 17.14. The girls finished 39th out of 66 teams.

The under 17 boys team was led by Luke Sherlock who completed his first leg run in 13.29, like Emily before him this was also an improvement of 4 seconds on his Midland run. Gregor Kelling was up next and despite carrying a foot injury he came home in a very good time of 13.49. George Adams brought the team home with another good time, completing his leg in 14.03. The boys team also finished 39th, this time out of 49 teams.

Well done to the runners, this was a high class event and all 6 performances were a credit to the athletes and also the club.
