Bicester event

Emily Thompson and Abbey Anson were the stars of the show as Banbury Harriers returned to Sports Hall action at Bicester on Sunday 19th October. Both girls returned maximum 60 point hauls in the under-15 category with Thompson also breaking the venue 4 lap record which had stood since 2002. With such performances it was no surprise that the under-15 team triumphed overall finishing first with a winning margin of 70 points.

In the youngest age group the under-11 boys and girls finished 3rd overall. Oliver Clamp produced the quickest 1 lap of the day in the boy’s event and there were also good runs from Charlie Evans, Aaron Hamilton and Alex Phipps. Clamp also won the vertical jump, supported by Alex Phipps for an overall team 3rd place. Christopher Charles was victorious in the chest push and supported by Evans produced a team win there as well. In the 3 lap good runs from Christopher Charles and Matty Heron brought a 4th placed finish. In the girls events strong performances from Tegan Armstrong and Eimear Moss produced an overall second place in the vertical jump while the team of Elizabeth Anderson, Inka Moyaert, Lucy Thompson and Caitlin Dubber all jumped well to come 3rd overall in the speed bounce, Anderson was particularly impressive finishing as 2nd individual. The 1 lap brought a good 4th place overall with fine runs from Armstrong, Moyaert, Maddi Dowden and Dubber and the 3 lap brought another 4th place with strong running from Anderson and also Nikola Bishop.

The under-13 boys and girls also managed a 3rd place finish. Billy M-Brooke was quickest over 4 laps and Morgan Young was 3rd in the shot. In the two lap event good runs from Oscar Moyaert and Toby Heron gained Harriers another 4th place overall. It was a story of 3rd places for the girls with Maddi Cooper and Maia Cook 3rd overall in the 2 lap, Holly Dowden and Emelina Darvell 3rd in the vertical jump and Cooper and Cook 3rd again in the triple jump.

With no under-15 boys available the under-15 girls were left to steal the show. Thompson was victorious in the 4 lap, long jump and speed bounce while Anson claimed first in the 2 lap, vertical jump and shot. Lily Hamp, Victoria Harte and Rebecca Scott also claimed 2nd, 3rd and 4th in the 4 lap respectively. Helen Dubber was 3rd in the speed bounce and Paige Cooper 4th in the shot in what was a terrific team performance.
