Oxford Mail at Oxford

Skip Snelson and Emily Thompson both recorded wins in round 2 of the Oxon Mail Cross-Country competition which was run over a new course at Harcourt Hill, Oxford on Sunday 7th November.

In the first race of the day under-9’s Ethan Aldous and Ruben Snelson ran really well for 2nd and 3rd place finishes respectively followed by Tilly Lainchbury who ran strongly for 37th.  In the under-11 girls Sophie Howie was first home for Harriers in 42nd place. Then in the boys under-11’s Jasper Bell produced a terrific 5th place finish just ahead of Christopher Charles in 6th, Ben Knox 15th, Barney Ballantine 20th, Ryan Barnby 25th and Alex Phipps 43rd. The under-13 girls produced solid runs from Lizzie Eskender in 24th and Laura Berrie in 30th. Snelson produced the run of the day in the next race to win the under-13’s, despite being in the younger year of the category and he was followed home by Stanley Bull who ran very well for 15th place. Thompson then continued the Harriers success to win the under-15 girls event (within the under-17 race) followed home by Rose Lord in 6th and Jenny Hannah in 7th. In the under-17 boys Luke Sherlock was a creditable 5th followed by Gregor Kelling in an ever improving 6th.

In the senior events Ros Kelling produced the best Harriers finish of 10th

overall but was first in the V2 category followed by Michelle Bartlett who was 26th and 2nd V2 home and Becky Pull in 65th. The woman’s team finished 3rd overall in their division 2 pool. The senior men finished 8th overall in their division 3 race with Tim Wright first home in 16th, Simon Pritchard 67th, Gerard Duncan 123rd, Phil Coy 188th, Andy Bartlett 235th, Glyn Pritchard 237th and Doug Scott 240th.
