Culham oxford mail and county race

Due to holidays and injury there was a smaller than normal turnout of Harriers for the latest stage of the Oxon Mail cross-country series on Sunday 4th January at Culham Park.

Ruben Snelson got things off to a great start when taking a comfortable victory in the under-9’s event which also saw a good run from Tilly Lainchbury in 28th. Sophie Howie was first under-11 girl home in 35th followed by Maddy Dowden in 40th, Nikola Bishop in 47th and Jess Knox in 48th. Harriers had a strong showing in the under-11 boys with Max Lloyd-Thomas and Christopher Charles 5th and 6th respectively, Jasper Bell 8th, Henry Pollock 14th, Ben Knox 25th and Ryan Barnby 31st. Lizzie Eskender  ran well in the under-13 girls for 32nd while Skip Snelson again showed his class to finish 2nd in the boys event. Angus Pollock also ran strongly for an well-earned 11th place. Emily Thompson ran exceptionally well in the under-15’s/17’s  girls race finishing 4th overall but just 3 seconds off 2nd and was only beaten by 3 runners in the higher age group, she also took 1st place in the county event. Rosie Weston ran well for 9th place and Jenny Hannah for 12th. In a tough under15/17 boys event Gregor Kelling was the only Harrier in the field and came home in 20th place.

In the senior events Ros Kelling was first Banbury Lady home in 18th, folwed by Becky pull in 80th, Rebecca Biegel in 87th and Alison Nuttall in 120th. First senior man home was Tim Wright in 17th place followed by Simon Pritchard 67th, Phil Coy 183rd and Glyn Pritchard 224th
