STORM TO THE FINISH AT BANBURY 5

In very unsettled weather Toby Spencer of Coventry & Godiva Harriers stormed to victory in a time of 24m 39 secs in the annual Banbury 5 mile road race put on by Banbury Harriers on Tuesday evening 7.6.16.

The race, which runs out to Broughton and back via the Bloxham Road, had a turnout of 315 club and unattached runners.

The leading lady was Hayley Munn of Northampton Road Runners in a time of 29 mins 10 secs.

Local runners who finished well were James Bolton of Woodstock Harriers, Darren Nash of Hook Norton, Luke Sherlock of Banbury Harriers, first male under 20, and Ian Thomas of Cherwell Runners & Joggers.

You will note there are not many harriers running. This is because they were all Marshaling or otherwise helping out.

The Banbury 5 was one of the best races I have had in what has proved to be a difficult season. I am aiming to run all of the grand prix races this year and my results so far are Silverstone 8th, Rugby 4th, Blisworth 5th, Corby  4th and now Banbury 3rd. (these all in my V60 age group). Next week it is off to Market Harborough for a 5 mile run then Weedon 10k and finally Milton Keynes for the final 10k on the 28th of June. That is, of course providing I get round the Wolf run next weekend.
