Upper age group meeting on 24th July

Banbury Harriers were in fine form at the weekend's final Upper Age Group YDL League Meeting at Solihull.

A day in which all our horizontal jumpers produced personal best performances began with a convincing win in the U17 Long Jump for Charlie Yates with a PB of 5.73m. Then showing much promise for the future in his new event, the Triple Jump, he produced a new best of 11.75m for 2nd.

Ben Brown was 2nd in the U17 B Long Jump with a new PB of 5.13m and U17 Matt Hall jumped to new PB's of 5.28m and 10.53m in the Long and Triple Jumps respectively.

In her first outing in the Banbury Harriers colours, former Bicester AC member Jess Cherry had a successful day with wins in the U20 Shot, with a throw of 10.47m. She then followed this with 1st in the U20 Hammer.

Brother and sister pair Michael and Shannon Dawes continued with their recent run of form in the field events. U17 Shannon hammering out a 7m PB and new club record for 2nd in the 3kg Hammer and then throwing a SB of 32.36m for 2nd and another club record in the Javelin. She completed her day with a win in the B Long Jump with a PB. Michael won the 6kg Hammer with an impressive throw of 52.14m, which he followed up with 1st in the U20 Discus, 2nd in the Shot and 1st B Javelin.

On the track, in form sprinters Ollie Sprio and Abbey Anson both looked sharp coming away with victories. Sprio running the 100m in 11.4s and then being 1st in the U17 200m in 22.8s and Anson 1st in the 100m in 12.7s and throwing a SB in the shot of 9.43m for 3rd.

Rebecca Scott was 1st in the B U17 200m in 27.9s and then jumped 4.91m for 2nd in the Long Jump.

Looking strong in the 80m Hurdles Helen Dubber was 2nd in 13s and Paige Cooper was 3rd in the B-string. Cooper then threw SB of 17.73m when 3rd in the Discus and 8.77m for 3rd in the B Shot.

U20 George Adams was 2nd in the Javelin with a PB of 34.58m and Luke Sherlock jumped 10.5m in the Triple Jump for a PB. Charlie Shepherd was 1st the both the B-string shot and Discus with 8m & 30.11m respectively.

There were PBs on the track in the 1500m for U20 Gregor Kelling in 4m 23.7s for 3rd and U17 Blaine Carpenter in 4m 40.9s.
