County championships

COUNTY CHAMPIONS

Banbury Harriers athletes Rosie Weston (U20 women),  Jenny Hannah (U17 women), Alex Scrivener (U15 girls) and Ros Kelling (V45 women) were all crowned Oxfordshire Cross Country Champions on Saturday at Stowe School.  The races were held in conjunction with Bucks and Beds on a beautiful and very hilly parkland course which got muddier as the day progressed.  In the U13 Girls race Tilly Lainchbury had a very strong run in 12^th place despite still being an U11, with Larissa Campbell in 14th.  In the U13 boys race Jasper Bell finished 7^th.  Alex Scrivener again had a great tussle with Tia Wilson from Bedfordshire at the front of the race, and after running side by side for the whole race and pulling out a big gap on the 3^rd placed runner, had to settle for second place by 1 second in a sprint finish.  Naomi Dibb, with her best run of the season was 7^th, Lizzie Eskender 12^th resulting in 2^nd team place.  Owen Knox (U15 boys) made the Oxfordshire team for Inter Counties Championships in March at Loughborough with a 2nd place finish.  Banbury Harriers strongest team on the day was in the combined U17/U20 womens race with solid runs from Jenny Hannah 1^st U17, Rosie Weston 1^st U20 and Rose Lord 3^rd U17 to all be rewarded with places in the Oxfordshire team and first team overall on the day.  On a tough and hilly 5 mile course Ros Kelling (1^st V45) and Michelle Bartlett (2^nd V45) were both very pleased with their strongest runs of the season, and joined with Charlotte Drummond were 2nd team on the day.  In the mens race Simon Pritchard was 8^th V40 and Glyn Pritchard 10^th M60.
