CHILTERN LEAGUE, SATURDAY 15TH OCTOBER AT SHOTOVER HILL, OXFORD

For full results go to the Chiltern league web site

In the first race of the cross country season held in very warm conditions the best Banbury Harriers result of the day came from Alex Scrivener in the U15 Girls race.  Despite coming back from an injury hit build up Alex lead the race out and ran with confidence, but just felt the missed training towards the end of the race and had to settle for third place – first division 2 club athlete.

The veteran ladies team again showed great team spirit with Michelle Bartlett leading them home in 15th , Ros Kelling 19th, Lisa Ansell 29th and Rebecca Biegel 50th to give them 4th vet team, getting their seasons aim of a bronze medal off well.

The men also got their season off to a good start with 8th place in the senior mens category despite most of the team being in the veteran age group.  An under par Tim Wright came 19th, Simon Pritchard 45th, Philip Vincent 53rd, Phil Coy 83rd, Jonny Carruthers 89th, Neil Frape 111st, Glyn Pritchard 112th and Neil Forbes returning to competitive running in 116th.

The young athletes started the day off with Frankie Scrivener (U11) in 24th, Tilly Lainchbury (U13) 17th, Jasper Bell (U15) 20th, Katie Pamphlett – running as an U17 despite stil being an U15 – was a very creditable 13th, and Grace Bell 20th.

Correction to above. The men were 7th place in the seniors and 6th vet team just beating Brackley on both occasions. The top photo is Alex running well through the woods. The other is Lisa who put her brilliant form in training into practice with an excellent race.
